SkyBanner privacy policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
SkyBanner is made by TechBuilderAkash, who is responsible for the personal information described here. In short: SkyBanner has no accounts, no ads and no analytics. Your reminders, settings and calendar links stay on your PC, and its developer never receives them. If you get SkyBanner Pro, SkyBanner's license server keeps only what it needs to check your license. If you claim the launch offer, a one-way fingerprint of your PC keeps it to one claim per PC. When Pro goes on sale, Paddle will handle purchases.
What SkyBanner keeps on your PC
- Your reminders, your settings (including the names you give characters) and your calendar links, in
%AppData%\SkyBanner. - A diagnostic log,
skybanner.log, in the same folder. It can include the text of your reminders. It never leaves your PC unless you send it to someone. - Working files of the 3D character renderer, in the same folder.
- If you have SkyBanner Pro: your license key, a random id SkyBanner made for this copy of itself, and the signed license the license server gave it, in
license.jsonin the same folder. With the launch offer, it also keeps whether the offer has ended here and the latest time it has seen. The PC's fingerprint is never kept on your PC. - Downloaded updates, and a copy of your settings and reminders from just before each update, in
%LocalAppData%\SkyBanner\Updates.
What SkyBanner sends over the internet
SkyBanner connects to three kinds of places, and nowhere else:
- GitHub, to check for updates. Once a day, and whenever you choose Check for updates, SkyBanner downloads a small file from https://github.com/TechBuilderAkash/skybanner-releases to see whether there is a new version. When you choose Update now, it downloads the new version from there too. Like any download, this shows GitHub your IP address and which version of SkyBanner you have. GitHub's privacy statement applies: https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/privacy-policies/github-general-privacy-statement. You can turn the daily check off under Settings → Behavior.
- Your calendars, if you add any. Every 10 minutes, SkyBanner downloads each calendar link you added from that calendar's own server (for example Google or Outlook), to show your meetings. This shows the calendar's server your IP address and that the request comes from SkyBanner. The calendar provider's own privacy terms apply.
- SkyBanner's license server, only for SkyBanner Pro. When you choose Upgrade to Pro or Claim Free Pro, enter a license key, choose Manage subscription or Remove from this PC, and about once a week while you have a license, SkyBanner sends the license server your license key and the random id it made for this copy (after Upgrade to Pro, a one-off code that collects the key of your purchase; for Claim Free Pro, the fingerprint described under The launch offer). The server answers with your license's status. It runs on Cloudflare, which sees your IP address like any server would; Cloudflare's privacy policy applies: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/. If you never buy Pro or claim the launch offer, SkyBanner doesn't contact it.
Everything else happens on your PC: the 3D characters are drawn from files inside SkyBanner, and spoken reminders use the voices installed in Windows. To hold break reminders while you're away, SkyBanner asks Windows whether the screen is locked and how long ago the mouse or keyboard was last used; it doesn't keep that or send it anywhere. SkyBanner has no analytics, crash reporting or tracking of any kind.
The launch offer
The first 100 PCs can claim 30 days of SkyBanner Pro free, with no account, email address or payment details. To keep it to one claim per PC, and to stop one person taking many places, it uses a device fingerprint. Here is exactly how.
- What SkyBanner sends, and only when you choose Claim Free Pro. A one-way SHA-256 hash of
MachineGuid, the id Windows gives its installation on this PC. The id itself never leaves your PC, and can't be worked out from the fingerprint. SkyBanner doesn't read or send serial numbers, network (MAC) addresses, your user name or anything else about your PC. If you never claim the offer, no fingerprint is made or sent. - What the license server keeps. The fingerprint, and the internet address your claim came from, each hashed again with a secret only the server has, so a copy of the database can't be matched to a PC or an address. The address itself isn't stored.
- What they're for. Only keeping the offer to one claim per PC and five per internet address. They aren't used for analytics, advertising, tracking or anything else.
- How long. The address's hash is erased after 30 days, and the fingerprint's hash after 180 days. Your license record stays, as described under Buying SkyBanner Pro, but with nothing in it that points to your PC.
- What changes the fingerprint. Updating or reinstalling SkyBanner, deleting its files or changing your PC's hardware doesn't. Reinstalling Windows gives the PC a new id, so it could claim again while places remain.
- On your other PCs. Entering the offer's license key on another PC sends no fingerprint.
- Deleting it sooner. Write to us with your license key (see Contact) and we'll erase the hashes of your claim. That PC could then claim again while places remain.
The website
SkyBanner's website, https://skybanner.pages.dev, runs on Cloudflare Pages. It has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking.
- Like any website, it shows Cloudflare your IP address when you visit; Cloudflare's privacy policy applies.
- The front page asks GitHub for the latest version of SkyBanner, which shows GitHub your IP address.
- If you turn the site's sounds off, your browser remembers that; it isn't sent anywhere.
- When SkyBanner Pro goes on sale, its checkout pages will load Paddle's checkout from Paddle, which uses cookies and similar technology for the payment and to prevent fraud; Paddle's privacy notice applies. After you pay, the thank-you page will ask SkyBanner's license server for your new key, with a one-off code that the checkout keeps in that browser tab until you close it.
Buying SkyBanner Pro
SkyBanner Pro isn't on sale yet. This is how buying it will work.
- Paddle sells SkyBanner Pro for us. Paddle (Paddle.com) is our reseller and the Merchant of Record for every purchase. Its checkout collects your email address, payment details and country (and postcode where tax needs it), takes the payment and charges tax. Paddle's privacy notice covers what it does with them: https://www.paddle.com/legal/privacy. We never see your full card details.
- What we receive from Paddle. Paddle shows us your email address, country and what you bought, and tells our license server about payments, renewals, cancellations and refunds. We use this only to provide your license and to help you when you ask, and we never sell it.
- What the license server keeps. Paddle's ids for your subscription and customer account, your plan, its status and dates, whether a payment was refunded or disputed, a fingerprint (a hash) of your license key, and for each PC using it the random id SkyBanner made and when it last checked in. It doesn't keep your name, email address or payment details.
- Why. To provide the license you bought, to help you when you ask, and to keep the records the law asks for.
- How long. License records stay while your license exists, and afterwards as long as needed for refunds, disputes and the records the law asks us to keep. A PC that hasn't checked in for 60 days loses its place on the license. To have your license records deleted, ask us (see Contact); Pro then stops working.
Writing to us
If you write to us, we receive your email address and what you tell us, and use them only to answer you. We keep them only as long as we need to help you.
Who receives your information
- Paddle, the Merchant of Record, for everything about buying SkyBanner Pro, once it's on sale.
- Cloudflare, which runs the website and the license server.
- GitHub, which hosts SkyBanner's downloads and updates.
- Professional advisers and authorities, only where the law requires it.
Some of them handle information in countries other than yours, under their own safeguards. We never sell your information or share it with advertisers.
Microsoft components
SkyBanner draws its 3D characters with the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, which is part of Windows. Microsoft's privacy statement and your Windows diagnostic data settings cover it: https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement
Your choices
- See or delete your data at any time: in SkyBanner, choose About → Open data folder.
- Remove a calendar under Calendars. Turn off update checks under Settings → Behavior.
- To stop SkyBanner contacting the license server, choose About → Remove from this PC (Pro then turns off on this PC).
- Uninstall SkyBanner from Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps. Uninstalling removes SkyBanner and its downloaded updates, and asks whether to delete your reminders and settings too.
Your rights
You can ask us what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it or send you a copy, or object to how we use it: write to us (see Contact), and we'll answer within a month. For your payments and receipts, Paddle is responsible too: see its privacy notice. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Security
SkyBanner talks to its license server only over HTTPS. The server keeps a hash of your license key, never the key itself, and the launch offer's hashes are made with a secret that never leaves the server. Your payment details stay with Paddle.
Children
SkyBanner isn't aimed at children, has no accounts and doesn't ask anyone's age. SkyBanner Pro will be bought through Paddle, whose terms say who may buy.
Changes to this policy
A changed policy comes with a SkyBanner update, and on the website. The current version is always at https://skybanner.pages.dev/privacy/
